Ninja Creami takes a non-traditional approach to ice cream making, but can be a real space and time saver in your kitchen
Ninja Creami is the brand's first ice cream maker, but since Ninja is one of the top brands producing blenders to make smoothies and even crushed ice, I was curious to see how it compared to the best ice cream makers I've tried in the past. By using a fast-spinning blade to shave frozen ingredients into smooth frozen desserts, it brings a new approach that I've never encountered in all my years of reviewing kitchen appliances. Since Ninja makes many of the best blenders out there, it's promising that they have chosen to apply this technology to ice cream, smoothie bowls, and milkshakes.
What's unique about the Ninja NC301 CREAMi is that it's a great all-in-one device that can make not only the creamiest ice cream, but also delicious Gelato, Milkshake, Sorbet and Smoothie Bowl, and with its Lite Ice Cream feature, you can enjoy healthy ice cream. It's amazing! Plus, in addition to 24 hours of freezing time, the Ninja Creami ice cream maker churns a can of ice cream in just 90 seconds. Easily enjoy a variety of frozen treats such as decadent ice cream, light ice cream, dairy-free, gluten-free and more. the Ninja CREAMi makes delicious treats that fit your lifestyle.
The Ninja CREAMi transforms frozen solid bases into ice cream, sorbet, milkshakes and more with the push of a button. Ninja's Creamify technology allows the CREAMi to break down evenly frozen blocks into incredibly smooth, creamy textures in minutes. From healthy to indulgent, Ninja CREAMi can create frozen treats that are as unique as you are.
Using this ice cream maker is easy and requires no setup. In addition to the machine itself, there are three plastic pint sized tubs. In each tub, you can make any frozen treat you want, including sorbet (usually just fruit, sweetener and water), ice cream and gelato, and they can be full-fat, low-fat or dairy-free. You can also make smoothies and milkshakes with this machine, but so can my blender. I wasn't that interested in those.
A recipe book with about 30 ideas is included, and more can be found online. Recipes have only one ingredient, such as single-ingredient sorbets that require only canned fruit (already swimming in sugar), and more complex recipes that contain seven or eight ingredients. Most ice creams and gelatos have about four or five ingredients, while sorbets have only two or three.
After stirring a recipe in a large bowl-usually no more than a few minutes-you have to freeze a pint size of the ice cream mixture for 20 to 24 hours. I froze one of my creations for a little bit and it turned out fine, but Ninja recommends 24 hours, so I mostly stuck with that.
Once completely frozen, place the frozen pint mixture into the outer bowl, screw the paddle lid on top, and load it into the machine. Finally, you'll select a preset for the type of dessert you're making, and in less than three minutes you have a pint of freshly churned ice cream, sorbet or gelato.
First, let's talk about its design. the Ninja NC301 CREAMi Frozen Treats Maker is a bulky kitchen appliance that measures 6.52 x 12.07 x 15.95 inches and weighs about 13 pounds. The device is available in 5 different subtle colors with glossy accents.
The available colors are blue, red, rose gold, silver and white. Thus, you can choose the specific product that matches your kitchen décor perfectly.
Next, as for capacity, the Ninja Ice Cream Maker comes with three 16 oz/1 pint plastic dessert containers with lids in which the ice cream base should be frozen.
They are then inserted into the external containers for rotation. The lids with double-edged scoops are attached to the top, scraping and folding the ingredients.
The idea of three 16-oz. containers rather than one large container is great because you can make different flavors of ice cream at once.
In addition, the ice cream maker has two motors, one for rotating the paddles and one for applying downward pressure to quickly break down the ice crystals, thus providing the creamiest consistency for your frozen treats.
The Ninja Ice Cream Maker also features a simple and clean touch screen control panel. It has 6 one-touch programs or presets that allow you to prepare everything from ice cream, gelato, sorbet, smoothie bowl maker, and even milkshakes.
There's also an additional program that evenly distributes chocolate, nuts, sugar sprinkles and cookie chunks into the ice cream for those who like frozen treats to surprise.
A Ninja Creami ice cream maker is an expensive kitchen appliance that takes up a lot of space and is noisy.
However, if you make your own ice cream or cold drinks at home, it can be more cost effective than store-bought ones. You can entertain your guests with frozen desserts and drinks, or keep your kids happy when they want something sweet.
But most importantly, if you're a frozen treat lover, the creaminess and smoothness of the desserts made by Ninja Ice Cream Maker more than makes up for the initial cost. So, yes, for any crazy ice cream lover, the Ninja Creami Ice Cream Maker is definitely worth every penny.
